It depends on what you're doing with it. If you use panels that are thick enough with gussets and reinforcements in the right places it's a pretty good material to work with. Don't be afraid to reinforce it with steel where you have to. Are going to build the top totally from scratch or use the stock top as a base? Some drawings of what you have in mind will help guys advise, and mocking stuff up in cardstock or cardboard is always helpful. If you look at some of the builds Christian Ludwig has posted you can see he's using some pretty thick stock in places.
