RE: What is the Status of the BME Extreme 55?
Mzybe we can get this thread closed down too [8D] Where would we all be without supreme knowledge of all things ignition ?
The two sensor design is found only with Reichmuth ignition, others use the best electronic control around, found in the C&H, RC, and Silent spark.. It is made in the US and there are thousands working flawlessy, and have been for many years..It is connected in series with an ignition circuit and can be set to advance the spark either 20 or 26 degrees, and have full advance at either 4000 or 6000 rpm..
A Hall sensor can NOT be damaged by anything except a broken ground connection, when the spark goes to ground through the sensor..Very high heat, more than anything found in the hub of an engine, will also damage it...
I have been making model airplane ignitions for 17 years, and could count on the fingers of 1 hand the problems caused by a defective Hall sensor...As for weight, a proper ignition circuit weighs only a few ounces...Hardly a big problem..
Sorry, the problem with BME delivery is not with C&H......
BME could probably buy ignitions from 3W or DA, they seem to be good enough for the TOC champions....
AND they didn't use a Hall sensor, until 3W came out with their new style ignition...
A Falkon or Vlach ignition would be another alternative, cheaper than DA or 3W...
