True, when the shields are retracted they do not fit perfectly flush to either turret sides (the shields are not flat, but have a slight bend to them), so there are gaps. Google turret images for both the HL Leo 2A6 and the real Leo 2A6 online, and you'll see nothing appears wrong with your RC model tank turret and shields per your posted photos.
