I just received a HL Leopard today, I see the sides of turret is look like not close to the upper side. I don't know if it suppose like this or defect from manufacture. Any body here who own a HL Leopard can tell me, please

True, when the shields are retracted they do not fit perfectly flush to either turret sides (the shields are not flat, but have a slight bend to them), so there are gaps. Google turret images for both the HL Leo 2A6 and the real Leo 2A6 online, and you'll see nothing appears wrong with your RC model tank turret and shields per your posted photos.

Anyone know the reason they are hinged on the actual real tank? There are no access panels on the side of the turrets at those locations so it seems odd to have hinged those wing plates.

Funny Gregg, I've wondered the same. Heard all kinds of things from spaced armor to opening the wings to protect infantry walking along side.

The spaced armor is hinged to allow clearance for replacing the engine. The 2A4 version turret was designed to provide space to pull the engine when the turret is at 90 degrees orientation. In the 2A6 version the turret is the same basic size, but the spaced armor is in the way and needs to hinge out of the way so they can still do a fast engine replacement.

"The side panels of this extra armor are hinged to swing forward, necessary when engine is to be replaced."
And:
"The turret front and sides are fitted with wedge-shaped add-on armor in sections, which can easily be replaced by field workshops if hit, or at a later stage, be replaced by more advanced armor."
