Generally when someone refers to a hobby radio, they mean a Tx/Rx setup that can be used with various different things. A receiver allows you to plug in servos, escs, etc. it's not something that comes with a RTR vehicle that only works with what is was bought with.

I doesn't mean it has to be a programmeable computer TX that talks back to you, it can be a simple 2 channel car Tx, but one that can be used however you want, not just what the maker decided.

It sounds like it's nit picking, but it really isn't. With a HL radio or even a high end Spektrum 2.4 that comes with their bind and fly stuff, you can't go with adding a servo recoil, etc.

In the past ten years, Tx/Rxs have become so cheap, it's amazing. You can get multichannel setup for pennies, and when you're talking tanks, not a 50 pound plane that will be flying a half a mile away, you're safe with the cheaper ones since no one is going to get killed if it browns out.

I just bought a second DX6i because I was running out of space (10 models on each) and I would have gone with a Orange box 6 channel, but the with the shipping, it was the same as the new sale prices on the DX6 ($110). I must have 25 $10 Orange Box Rxs in the shop, I use them in everything and they work flawlessly. Again, not counting on a mile range and perfectly reliability. I wouldnt use them in a $5000 plane, but in a tank, they are golden.
