Currently my interest is cold war and modern RC IR fighting tanks. I have two keeper models that are works in progress. A Type 10 kit and the Leopard 1, both deserved study and developing a list of modifications to make them serviceable, durable and better all around performers.
1. Still in the box, Tamiya Type 10 IR fighting purposed
planned modifications: Hinged upper deck, relocate the battery to the hull, add a metal battery tray in hull bottom, beef up the plastic areas, add wheel bearings, install the AFV fine adjustable idler system and install Carson's excellent metal primary transmission gears.
2. On the bench, a Tamiya Leopard 1A4 static to full option IR conversion: Daryl Turner designed and fabricated turret recoil and elevation system, hinged upper deck, add metal hull sponsons, beefed up plastic areas, add wheel bearings with metal cap screw axels, install the HennTec idler system and ETO Black Long Can Motors.
