I got a good start on my scratch built twin. Still need to build a turtle deck and the nacelle trim and cowlings. The wing is similar in shape and airfoil as the Ultrasport 60 with a slightly longer wingspan (71"). The fuse is just something I drew up. It is similar in size and shape as the Southern Eagle. It has flaps and retracts. I am trying to keep the dry weight right at 8 lbs. That will give me a wing loading just under 27oz/sqft. with 12 oz of fuel. I will have two ASP .36 engines with 10x6 props. I was hoping that one engine would pull it along after it was in the air just in case of a dead engine, but I don't think it is going to be enough. With my twin engine Seamaster, 7.5lbs, one ASP .25 will take off and fly around but it has a lot more wing area. I have built in 3 deg. of out thrust on each engine.
I have two .46 engines but with 6 oz of fuel in each wing, they wont fly very long. Plus they would add an extra 1/2 lb of weight.
Well anyway, here is a picture of the progress so far. Hoping to have it ready for covering in a couple of weeks.
I know the table is quite messy right now. I seem to clear it off every week and it just keeps getting full of junk.
