I do not condone non-AMA members flying at club sites. So I see no reason to "inspect" a person's, who will not have insurance, airplane which will not be allowed to fly at the club field or any sanctioned AMA event. I'd rather see the AMA member explain, to the person with the large aircraft who is not a member, the wisdom in joining the AMA. Other than that, I still think having an informed inspector is the best policy for large aircraft waivers.
