Default Getting back into it with the boy

Hi Guys hope you are well thanks very much in advance for any help offered

Things have changed a bit since I used to assemble and disassemble my tamyia sand scorcher blackfoot and hot shot
the Hot Shot was the last I had and the change from the SS to that car was huge especially in the esc, battery, and motor departments.

And then I had children and all my toys went away.

But Now my boy is 12 its PLAYTIME I want to get him a kit NO RTR absolutely not if he builds it he know how it works thats how it should be thats the only firm statement I'm making here it has to be built by him and a little by me of course I can lend a hand ;-)

But as I said time has moved on LIPO this ESC that, Battery size milliamps???? brushed, brushless I've been doing some research and its a minefield I live and Derby and phoned the local model shop and asked for some advice as I told the guys there I would like to buy from a shop also so I can come back and forth and get the set up right however they never sent me the email of there recommendations probably scared I would buy online probably because I mention this http://www.prolineracing.com/pro-mt.
and I don't think they stock it This proline is the truck style he likes I'm a buggy man but hey ho he wants a truck .The proline looks good but Im open to other suggestions you guys can offer the main thing is the guts the transmitter the batteries and the escthe motor I'm afraid I haven't a clue and I've read some threads on here where the guys have basically bought all the wrong stuff for the kit they have so to avoid that I need your advice and help (budget £500/£600)can't believe I just typed that lol

Thanks again
