Default Noise problem when editing Clark TK60 sound files

Hi,
I have already finished my abrams tank with a TK60 Clark board.
Because the volume of the main gun and machine gun sounds is a little bit too low i decided to lower the engine sound level.
Increasing the volume of the gun sounds would lead to clipping.

I take audacity, import the bin files as raw data (8 bit, 22050 Hz). Then i can edit the parts, lower the level of some sounds and then i export it as an 8 bit raw file. But when i play the sounds from the tank after programming it intop the TK60 there is a very massive background noise.
When importing again my exported raw file the noise is also visible and hearable in audacity.

What am i doing wrong ? How can i edit the files without adding noise to it ?

Regards,
Olaf
