Default My First RC Boat Build

Hey all, first post here!

I'd just like to share this fun little project I did with my kids. We really wanted an FPV boat, but we didn't have much in the budget for it.

So I got to thinking, after watching many videos of people making their own beautiful models out of balsa and the such, I figured I could make some sort of boat like structure with some materials laying around the house.

Those materials happened to be cardboard, fiberglass and bondo.

I started by cutting out a simple flat bottom "row boat" style structure, then added a deck, then a little wheelhouse. I then proceeded to fiberglass and resin coat all of the pieces separately. Then, starting with the cabin, I put electronics in place.

The completely water tight cabin has a small FPV camera and transmitter housed within, with the wires running through the deck to a switch mounted below next to the batteries.

The hatch is an electronics hobby box, with the bottom cut away.

The only issue is the prop being so close to the surface, causes a lot of cavitation.

Anyways, just thought I'd share, just gotta figure out how to attach photos from my phone now!
