The following answer isn't an official answer from Internet Brands, its my best guess based on 20 years in the software industry. My guess is the software was unable to be updated to meet current security standards or would have cost a prohibitive amount to do so. As I understand it, the board was custom coded and whomever did the coding was long gone so they went with a canned solution.
I appreciate the honest answer, this explains a lot of things actually. Is there any plan to do something with it? As of now I can't see anyone using it in it's current form in this section of the forums.
