Default Propeller advice

I tried float flying for the first time this year with my 1/3 Scale Super Cub and Scale Edo floats. Really enjoyed it but ran in to a problem.

I normally fly the plane with a wooden 24x8 Zinger prop, and I used this same prop off the water. The problem is that the spray impacts the tips and after a couple of flights the leading edge of the prop is shattered from hitting the spray.

How do the more experienced water flyers get around this problelm?

Is there a better prop?

Is there a way to protect the prop?

I tried holding more up elevator until the plane was on step, this helped but did not eliminate the problem.

Advice would be appreciated.
