I wish you the best of luck but would recommend a gas or electric powered plane. Gas would be my pick. Both have pros and cons and some of that depends on you. I don't care for battery. Not because of performance , more because I can't tell without asking for help what ESC goes with what motor and charging LiPos is a pain. At least for me. You got out when I got in. Radios have grown by leaps and bounds which is a good thing. You will find a learning curve on programming. Without getting into a Futaba vs Spektum debate I would suggest visiting and joining a club. Find guys whos company you enjoy and buy what brand they have. This will be a boon when you set one up.
