Wingnut,

The internet was "invented" by a bunch of really smart guys at Bell Labs. They wanted to communicate (email) with their buddies who where still in school, but the US mail was too slow. Then some professor/scientist thought it would be really cool for sharing information very quickly, between a lot of people. Then the government got interested, and very much like the InterState Highway system, it took off from there!

Good job of explaining Montaque! I think the reason Gore stumbled in the TV interview was because in the middle of the statement, he realized he didn't really want to tell the TV audience, and the Americans that were paying for it) that they weren't going to get to use "his internet".[:-] He was really a lot smarter than he got credit for :-) Even if he couldn't spell very well

Whatever wings meant, I am just glad I wasn't born 10 years ago!
