RE: AWESOME indoor 3d machine !!
Lomcevek1,
I just went through what you are about to go through. I've been flying RC for nearly 34 years, but felt absolutely lost when it came to electric planes....and especially electric 3D planes.
After reading through what seemed like thousands of posts on RCU and RCGROUPS, I decided to build a 3DX from Tim's Foamy Factory plans. Here's what I ended up with:
I used FanFold foam because Depron was sold out.
Covered with colored packing tape.
Castle Creations Pixie 20p controller.
GWS EPS 350c with D gearing.
GWS 12x6 and 11x4.7 props.
GWS Pico 4 channel rx.
Blue Bird BMS-306 servos.
E-Tec 1200 3s1p lipo.
Weighs 12.75 ounces.
Has a "prop saver" based on Y-Sekiai's design.
I finally got to test fly my 3DX today. It flys better than I expected, but I haven't tried "normal" flight yet, just 3D hovering, torque rolling, harriering, and some harrier rolls.
My only regret it that I should have gone ahead and started out with a brushless motor.
