For a tamer setup, you could go with the following:
4530 motor
300kv-400kv
6s
running around a 18in-20in prop
Keep in mind, you may need to play around with the balance, as my balances well now, but a lighter setup would be nice.

I do use a separate BEC, it allows me to do all the prep work on the plane in the pits and my field safety officer doesnt loose his mind when I plug in the main flight packs before I am on the flightline

I am running various promodeler servos, all metal gear and HV.

I did open up the wing, installed new hardwood one rib farther out. Pretty easy to do with basic wood working tools. It is about 6 inches further apart now. I did get a chance to fly it with the new gear locations and it is so much better on the ground.
