how much does the one weight with the saito 40cc on it? (sorry for my bad english!

I went with a 12s setup. I think I went with a pretty light setup, not sure how everyone is getting such a light build. Mine is right at 14lbs and it is a handful to control on the ground. Flight characteristics are good, the most unsettling thing is cutting throttle removes almost all of the tail control, so just dont be choppy with it. My setup is centered around the sound more than anything.

I did widen the landing gear about 6in to give it more ground control. Works much better, way less tippy.

Wont let me add the link yet but here is everything but the https portion

Hello, thanks for the replay, do you have more info over motor esc and lipo/and bec system you use? and do you have an picture of the landing gear modification? I think I will do that also. The sound is great! what is youre flight time?

Sure, but in full disclosure, I purchased this aircraft to use as a promotional platform for the new Hobbywing 52xx Platinum motor line.

Seagull Models 72in Gee Bee
Hobbywing 5230 220kv
Hobbywing PL180HV ESC
2x Zee 3300 6s (12s setup)
22x8 prop

My goal of the setup was to show that the 52xx line of motors far outperforms the factory specs published, so I am overdriving the prop setup. My estimates show it spinning around 9k rpm and able to do about 35lb's of thrust.
My flight time is only limited to my impatience to keep landing this plan to learn its ground characteristics. Right now I am flying it balls out most of the time for 4 min and landing at about 60-70% of the battery left. When I did fly it on 5200's, I was only using 15-20% of the battery. Nothing is coming down hot, its pretty wild.

moving the landing gear is super simple with average modeling skills. The challenge keeping the wheel pants on when the struts flex all over the place.

Overall, its an absolutely insane setup, and I personally would consider a smaller setup to tame it down a bit, but thats not my case

So thats a hell of a setup... but nice...and not a bad flight time i think...
But what "tamer setup would you thinking of then? I already flew some difficult planes but never brushless power above 6s...

And do you use a seperate bec system? and what kind of servo's are u using? nice propellor!

So for the gear, you opened up the wings on the underside and make some new wooden supports inside the wing and then cover it up? about 3inch each side?
sorry for the bad english and the many questions!
Greetings

For a tamer setup, you could go with the following:
4530 motor
300kv-400kv
6s
running around a 18in-20in prop
Keep in mind, you may need to play around with the balance, as my balances well now, but a lighter setup would be nice.

I do use a separate BEC, it allows me to do all the prep work on the plane in the pits and my field safety officer doesnt loose his mind when I plug in the main flight packs before I am on the flightline

I am running various promodeler servos, all metal gear and HV.

I did open up the wing, installed new hardwood one rib farther out. Pretty easy to do with basic wood working tools. It is about 6 inches further apart now. I did get a chance to fly it with the new gear locations and it is so much better on the ground.

Oke, will do that mod on the gear as well, i read about it somewhere else to.

I have an torquester 6355/7-400 engine that mayby can do the trick?
https://torcster.de/Torcster-Brushle...355-7-400-540g

I also have an hobbywing 120amp esc V5 (built in hight power bec with output voltage adjustable(5.2v 6v of 7.4v) the bec module seperate from other circuits on the esc,so the normal BEC output can be guaranteed to allow users to get the aircraft back befor crash. (andere fllyfun escs don't have this function))
So if I read that i can use HV servo's without the need of an extra bec or extra lipo for the servo's

and i have 6s 3300mah 70c

that would be as light as possible i think, but need to do something like the battery inside the cowling i think for balance, and maby a verry short flight time...

that setup is now sitting on my 1/2 scale stits skybaby

You will not need to worry about balance with that motor. It is actually a bit on the heavier side. Just make sure you play with the motor placement a bit to bring the motor in as much as possible. Your single 6s will be fine inside the aircraft.

Should be fun!
