Now came the time for the wing sheeting.

I chose to prepare the whole upper and lower sheetings first, so all the edges of the individual planks were first rectified and sanded to ensure a perfect fit. The planks were then joined using masking tape on the edges one side, and thin cyanocrilate was poured on the other side.

This is the second time I used this method but I think next time I will do a variation in relation to using cyanocrilate glue, since it is difficult to sand and leave a smooth finish on the joint. Almost always I've had to smooth the surface on the joint by adding those super lite balsa fillers, and this increases the build time significanly.

Next time I will try just using wood glue on the joints.

I started with the upper sheeting first since I had to build the aileron servo bays and the retract bays before gluing the bottom sheeting. The top sheeting was glued to the ribs using again thin cyano.

Here I had to decide on the aileron servo mounting method. Instead of the more typical standing position of the servo (also shown on the plan), I decided the servos to go sideways, mounted on a cover plate. I had handy a couple of plastic aileron servo covers I had purchased last year for future projects, so I used them. I think the look of enclosed servos enhances the looks a lot and provided that a strong mounting is ensured, there should be no operational issues. Here I checked that the plastic cover was stiff enough not to allow for any movement of the servo when mounted.

I did a quick design of the structure that would hold the cover in place, basically using wooden dowels. I also had to add some plywood spacers between the servo and the cover so to allow clearance between the servo arm and the hood of the cover that hides the servo arm connection. The parts are shown on the pictures as well as the completed installation.
