Having lost my 2nd Anthem to a very tall tree trying to land in a strong cross wind, I am now the 3rd owner of a CA Model Andes V2. The interesting thing is that when I contacted the designer about whether CA Model were going to produce quick release struts like BJ Craft does, he said he flew his without struts! So, if that's what the designer did, I thought I'd follow suit. As far as I can tell, there is not difference without the struts and it saves time rigging and derigging the aircraft. For those who don't know, both wings are retained by 4 bolts, 2 at the front and 2 at the rear of each wing into blind nuts just inboard of the fuselage sides. Other biplanes that used a pair of bolts fore and aft on the centreline of the top wing, like the Citrin, clearly need the struts and, in the case of the Oxai designs, were all quick release fitting struts. I think the Andes also looks a bit sleeker with out the struts.
