ModelTech Giles 202 - a bit touchy
Took the new Giles out for it's first flights today, and boy, what trick! With an Enya 120R up front (12 oz heavier than a Saito 100), I still had to add about 5 oz of lead up front to balance it. It balances at 5" from the LE root, which is in the middle of Modeltechs recommended 4.75 to 5.25" range.
I think it's a little too tail-heavy, still, since it snaps out of tight loops easily. [:'(] Although when I did the CG test (fly level, then roll the wings to 45 degrees), the nose drops off, which tells me it's still a bit nose-heavy.
What might I look at to stop the snaps on inside maneuvers? Elevator throws are about 1" full travel each way, which doesn't seem too much for an "acrobatic" plane to handle.
