RE: venture30 engine tuning/upgrade
Heli tuning is more like tuning for RC cars, you tune by temperature. Shoot for 200 - 240 degrees on the cylinder. You can get a good cheap IR thermometer (about 30$ ?) from Tower hobbies and RC car shops.
They have to be run very rich, the extra fuel is used to keep it cool. High nitro (30%) helps with gettting flyable power at those cool rich settings. if you are running a TT39 the main needle will need to be around 3 turns out. There is a modification a lot of folks make to the idle needle to, makes the mid range a bit richer, seems to help a lot.
Not sure if the venture can be upgraded. if so try the OS 50 they kick ***** and are a breeze to tune. if not, an Irvine 39 would be worth a look. Haven't flown the irvine 39 heli but i was very impressed with the power and quality of the 53, everyone says the 39 heli is every bit as good.
