Default RE: Silicone sealent removal

Silicone Remover

Many of us use silicone sealants and adhesives during model construction, and fine products they are too…until you need to remove them from the model! The sealants aren’t too difficult to get off but the adhesives can be a right pain – you can cut them with a sharp knife but cleaning any residual off the surface is very difficult due to their rubbery and excellent adhesion properties. All is not lost, though, as there is a product made specifically to remove silicone sealant residue, called ‘Sillikill’, which is available in some DIY shops and builder’s merchants. I’ve used it several times and it works as advertised – removes residue completely and leaves a clean surface ready for further use. Sillikill is made by Den Braven Sealants (Netherlands) www.denbraven.nl and costs around £2.99 for a 100 ml bottle.
