At the scale you are looking at, 3D planes = Funfly Planes. I won't bother with all the lowdown on why larger 3D planes can depart from the funfly design.
With your setup, my primary concern would be weight. If your engine is good for .5 HP at 10K RPM (just a guess), swinging a APC11x5 will get you about 5lbs of thrust. Really need 50% headroom to safely hover and 100% is better. That means the total weight of your plane with fuel should weigh in the 2.5lbs to 3.5lbs range. That may be a hard ticket to pull off. If you want to hover, I'd start looking for the lightest fun fly type plane you can find and not worry about how it looks.
