I'd say that for learning 3D the UCD may be a better choice...but for getting used to larger scale 3D aircraft the Katana has the edge because it flies very similar to one.

I love the 160fx on the Katana...hovers about half throttle. The Saito requires expensive fuel (30%) to get the best performance...The 160fx runs great on 15%. The Saito will guzzle MUCH more of the expensive fuel during a flight, so you are essentially increasing your wing loading while depleting your fuel budget. The Katana balances PERFECTLY with three servos in the tail, a 160fx / pitts muffler / perry pump on the nose with a CG mounted tank. My 160fx spins a Mezjlik 18x6 CF prop at 9200 rpm even when slightly on the 'rich' side...I'm sure that I could get 9600-9800 out of it if I were to lean it down more. GOBS of power...and more than the Saito could provide.
