maybe i should go for 35% instead of the big stuff.
35% IS the big stuff. The difference in the flying characteristics between a 35% and a 40% is small compared to the difference between 25% and 30% or 30% and 35%.....The main difference between 35% and 40% is the plane just seems to fly SLOWER or BIGGER on a 40%er. Both sizes are very stable....You start getting down below 33% and they lose the stability and they have to fly faster. The smaller you go, the worse these characteristics become
maybe i should go for 35% instead of the big stuff. I am looking to get into IMAC flying.
So does this mean you have only been flying 40 and 60 size funflies? Have you ever flown any IMAC?
I ask these 2 questions because a 35% or 40% airplane is going to set you back a
MINIMUM of $3500 for 35% and $4500 for 40% unless you buy used. These really aren't the "LEARN HOW TO DO IT" type of planes unless you have an unlimited budget. If you have your heart set on one of these giants, then yes they are the ULTIMATE for learning, but expense wise it is not a good idea.
Now back to your actual question.....
I think you will find that it is more of a personal preference issue, but for me I like the EDGE for 3D and the EXTRA for IMAC.....I am not an IMAC pilot, but the Extra just seems to me to be more PRECISION oriented. Other than this, both planes will do a good job at either 3D or IMAC.
