There is really no such thing as an Extra 330, it's the same airframe as the Extra 300 and although Extra did put 330 hp engines in them they were still called 300's. You correct in that your Edge bleeds speed faster than a Extra and the Texas Hurricane looks just like an Edge with larger control surfaces. IMAC sequences are smooth an constant {for the most part} but 3-D goes through some rapid speed changes so there is an advantage to a draggier airframe especially on the down lines. Thats the one of the reasons you can't put large control surfaces on a pattern plane and expect it to do well in 3-D, but it will have no problem with IMAC sequences. Also with 3-D it's very important that the ailerons go almost all the way to the wing root, in very high alpha, vectoring the prop blast is the only control you have.
