Big Pete, the nose wheel linkage should have no stiffness at all, you should be able to steer the nose wheel from the servo push rod
( with hte servo disconnected from it of course ) with almost no friction. On a plane up to .60 size a standard servo will work perfectly on that function. Sounds like you have a problem there, check your install against your airplane instruction manual.
