How tight should the nose wheel be in a rudder/steering set up? My nose wheel seems a little stiff but I don't want to make it too loose or I'm afraid it will slide up and down. I think I'll need a higher torque servo too. Any comments/recommendations greatly appreciated.

Big Pete, the nose wheel linkage should have no stiffness at all, you should be able to steer the nose wheel from the servo push rod
( with hte servo disconnected from it of course ) with almost no friction. On a plane up to .60 size a standard servo will work perfectly on that function. Sounds like you have a problem there, check your install against your airplane instruction manual. If you have ANY questions, no matter how simple it may sound, just ask here or e-mail me at <<[email protected]>>

Thanks everybody. This kit I have (AK Models MIG-29) has horrible instructions and doesn't show show how to install the nose gear. You're supposed to know stuff like this already I guess. The kit is meant for advanced (or expert) modelers but I didn't know that when I bought it as they make no mention of it in thier ads. I'm having a real hard time with this kit as the plans and instructions are so bad. When I email them asking a question they never answer all my questions only what they want to answer so I give up on them. I get much better answers here on RC Universe. I mounted the elevator torque rods and servo doublers on the wrong side because the so-called plans are depicted looking from the bottom-up instead of from the top down, now I've been a draftsman for 35 years and never in my life have I seen plan views the way these are drawn. I could go on and on but space won't allow it. Needless to say I'm pissed. Back to the nose gear....yeah I think I need wheel collars but not sure how they go on, if anybody knows of a link or can post a drawing or photo I'd really appreciate it. BTW, the nose gear consists of a Dubro E/Z mount steering arm #664 and a Dubro #154 universal nose gear wire. The steering arm mounts into the coiled part of the universal nose gear wire. There were no wheel collars or mounting instructions supplied.
Thanks,

Yeah, that's what I thought. Not exactly my setup but close enough. Thanks, thanks a lot. Now I gotta figure out how to get it looser, it's definately to tight. I guess I can drill it out some.

Big Pete, I found a picture of your parts/setup in;
http://www.castlehillhobbies.com.au/dubro.htm
Look for pictures of Dub152 and Dub664. In Dub152 you`ll see the exact setup that zetor showed you, but you will not use the nylon steering arm ( see Dub155 ) that is shown on that picture, you`ll use the E/Z-mount-steering arm Dub664, which mounts lower and probably with a steering push-rod that comes exposed from the belly of the airplane. PLEASE do not hesitate to ask us any questions, me, and I know many others will be happy if you get that "bird" assembled soon.
