Default RE: 31% aeroworks Edge 540T - DA-50 or G62?

ORIGINAL: The_Weatherman

I just purchased the Edge and was wondering which engine to buy? This will be my first gasser and my first large plane.

Thanks
I have an Aeroworks 29% Edge with a Brison 3.2. It's a bit heavy at 19.25 lbs dry, but it flies great. What's the weight of you 31%? If it's more then 20lbs you may want to consider more than a 50cc engine... The DA-50 has a little more power than the the Brison so it may be enough. Have you looked at the ZDZ 60 or the BME Extreme 55? MVVS also has a 58cc engine available that is reported to have very good specs...

Also, the DA, 3W, Brison, BME, and ZDZ 50cc engines have better power than a G-62... My Brison 3.2 (53cc) turns a 22X10 Mejzlik prop at 7260 RPM. The spec sheet for the G-62 claims 7200 for a 22X10 prop... The G-62 is also at least a pound heavier, but it is also about $100.00 cheaper... Compromises... Compromises...
