Could you give us a little more information as to the plane? Who makes it or a link to a site. Most students select a plane that is too aerobatic for thier second plane. A fast roll rate gets most intermediate pilots in trouble fast. Couple that with tapered wings which are fully symmetrical and you can have the plane in an attitude you haven't seen before.
My favorite "second" plane is the Sig Mid-Star 40. The entire "Star" series is good however. They all have semi-symmetrical wings with a straight long wing configuration. This gives you time to think while still giving good intermediate flight performance. Try to pick a plane with these characteristics.
