RE: Hangar 9 Edge 540 query in response to Ronbo
Nice plane Andy...
The first thing I did was to make the filler plate that I glued into the rear servo area. To get the pattern close, I used the side of a freshly sharpened pencil. I taped a piece of paper to the area, then shaded the original cut-out. That left me with a reasonable impression/pattern to start from. Once I had that done, I just cut out a few pieces of light-ply, and sanded them for a near perfect fit in that cut out. Then I used med. CA to glue the plates in, so as not to disturb the existing covering. I then took the iron, and ironed the covering down to the area I just worked on, so when it comes time to cut the hole, I didn't have to worry about the covering lifting or anything like that. Don't cut the servo hole just yet though...
Then I planned servo placement. That won't vary to much regardless of servo, I just wanted a comfy geometry for the linkage. Once I was satisfied with the servo/linkage, and the overall placement, I cut the hole for servo....making it a comfy fit, and again checking linkage/geometry, and all that....
I'm going to put this in a few posts....my comp is not too stable these days....I dont want to lose this info before I'm done....
