I just pick one up as well after reading your post. Works just fine at a local perk pond and swimming pool ( 1 Ft dive no problem 3 ft a way ). I may try to open the antenna, then solder it around a thicker and longer piece of wire to see if I can increase the range. Max range is about 10-12 feet. I got mine for 15.99 at the local Wally World in the open box section.
