Let me suggest that you install a couple of spare hinges in some scrap balsa with the slow-drying epoxy you have used. Give it a full day to really cure. Now try to pull them out. With any kind of fit at all, you will tear out wood. I have never pinned a hinge in 27 years, 112 RC planes, and never had one pull out. I use the Hayes (used to be Kraft-Hayes) living hinges. I just hate to see guys put the eye-sore toothpicks on their finished planes....looks like pimples on a cute gal
