Well, I think I have decided against pinning the hinges. I installed them on the rudder and elevator halves last night and tonight I pulled on them hard enough that I thought I was going to break the wood so I am assuming that they are pretty well glued in. And I'm with Azcat, the idea of putting a hole in the covering and then trying to cover it back up is not going to look real good - like a pimple on a cute girl.
