I live in Sugar Land also and have been flying for a couple of months. In the area there are 2 fields. Scobee which is west of 6 on Westheimer its a county field and you can fly there with out being a member but must have AMA. The club there is the Bayou City RC. I've tried to get lessons there but unfortunately the instructor would never show. Got there early and waited for over an hour. Did that a couple of times and samething everytime so I don't know if you'll have better luck. The other one is at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds and the Fort Bend Flyers is the club same set up you can fly there with out being a member but you gotta have AMA. Haven't been able to get in touch with those guys as their site is down and haven't been able to get a phone number.
