Default BME 102

Have recently become the new owner of a very lightly used BME 100 that was 102'd by BME after about 12 flights - head spacers, new crank, etc. As it is, it has the C&H Syncrospark ingition with the little rubber boots for the spark plugs. Now, the ground straps run up each plug wire and the whole affair (strap and boot) are secured to the plug with a hose clamp. The buddy I bought it from had no problems with this setup in his Staudacher but I am wondering if there was another option?
