RE: Best 3D Plane for a newbee
I did see a guy do some basic aerobatics with a Funtana/os46 combo. He could hover it, but it was close to full throttle. I'm not sure if the 46 would be adequate. Personally if I already had the motor I would try it, can't hurt anything. The Funtana will weigh 5-5.5 lbs decked out.
IMHO- A good 3D pilot can perform most maneuvers with just about any plane/engine combo, its only us average/novice fliers that require the higher thrust/weight ratios. I figured this out when I told the guy who soloed me that I have done all I can with my trainer, he then took the sticks and started doing rolling loops, torque rolls, etc. with ease. He then gave the xmitter back to me and said "looks like shy flies just fine to me...".
Lesson learned...
p.s.-I have a ys63 on my 6lb aerobatic plane...it 3D's just fine...
