Hi everybody,
My name is Zafer and I am writing from Switzerland.
I am very new to RC flying. I have flown a trainer a while. It is a graupner "trend 35" an old model from 80s. This is my second plane. First one I crushed was a trainer from Kyosho. I can do loops and rolls now . But that is all.
Anyway, I am interested in buying a new plane. I need advice.
I would like to have 3D plane which I can handle (or a plane which is 3D capable - basically it is the same thing) I have a friend tells 3d or pattern planes are actually very good for training. I don't know if he is right.
I have read about FuntanaS and Hype 3D. Both are very good planes I understand, But I have no idea if they are good for me ( a trainee ). I have also some experience flying with simulator ( FMS ).
Thank you all for your advices in advance.

Hype 3d would probably be better, slower and harder to stall.
Id recommend a funfly like a cougar 2000 or a Magic. Much easier to fly and you dont have to worry about tearing it to peices at high speed so much.

At your stage, I would suggest sticking with a Funfly like the Magic, and a 40 size general aerobatic plane (pattern style is fine). These will teach you the basics and get you to a good level.
You can then go up to the outright 3D models, if that is the way you want to go.

get an omp edge 540 profile. use a saito 72 or ys 63. fly the CRAP out of it; it takes several months to learn to hover, but then it gets easy. Don't go from plane to plane. A 2-stroke works but it is easier to learn on a 4-stroke as thrust change is instant, which is handy at first when you are behind the plane most of the time. don't get anything fancy until you can get it on the deck and hover nose in.

I learned 3D on the Extreme 330 by CG.
If I were you I would either buy the Mini 3D from Extreme Flight or the Edge 540 from them. I have the mini 3D and it'll do everything in the book, and it cheap. The Edge 540 is coming and the video looks great. If you want the mini 3d manual email me - [email protected].

Backafter30,
I couldn't quite understand what you meant by writing " QHOR". My English is not so well. I need this to be translated in to plain English.
Regards.

Thank you for the clue....
I would like to have something with more conventional looks but with 3D. Can't I use funtanaS or Hype with dual rates. I mean with limited and full throws. And could you comment on if I can use my .46 size irvine / or / O.S. with them. I really like these two planes.
Thank you for all who reads and comments.

I did see a guy do some basic aerobatics with a Funtana/os46 combo. He could hover it, but it was close to full throttle. I'm not sure if the 46 would be adequate. Personally if I already had the motor I would try it, can't hurt anything. The Funtana will weigh 5-5.5 lbs decked out.
IMHO- A good 3D pilot can perform most maneuvers with just about any plane/engine combo, its only us average/novice fliers that require the higher thrust/weight ratios. I figured this out when I told the guy who soloed me that I have done all I can with my trainer, he then took the sticks and started doing rolling loops, torque rolls, etc. with ease. He then gave the xmitter back to me and said "looks like shy flies just fine to me...".
Lesson learned...
p.s.-I have a ys63 on my 6lb aerobatic plane...it 3D's just fine...
You may benefit best by checking out the thread in this forum dealing with Funtana power.
