I have been using an inexpensive postal scale that is good up to 50 lbs.
just stand the plane on end resting wieght of plane on the spinner ,centered on the scale platform.
This is usually fairly easy , however the bigger your plane is ..... you may need someone to steady the plane while you read the scale.
