18lbs with a DA-50. Flight is good. Vertical unlimited and landing was much slower than anticipated! Take off was a surprise too! It lifted off the ground in 50' and skyrocketed up. Wanted to keep it on the ground a little longer to prevent groundloop but she wanted to fly.
A strange thing though, if you pull up and turn to the left, she gently turns left. If you pull up and to the right, its like shes hanging and you have to force her right.
So I need to look at the engine incidence!

Reason I ask is I am thinking of glassing a Byron Eagle. Book says they weigh 16 to 18 lbs. Going by that would mean building towards the heavy side it obviously weighs around the 18 #. I am thinking that would mean covered is 16#, glassed would be 18#. Sound about right? So if the GP Eagle works out ok at 18# wouldn't the Byron? They are about the same physical size. Not sure how the airfoils compare. What's your opinion? Especially interested in hearing from people who have actually done it. thanks

Im working on 2 new Byron CEII's now ,actually finished both this week ..
Covered with econocote , full eagle graphics , 3w60 , wieght is 17.5#
bird 2 set up the exact same covering and graphics but with a D&B 3.7 twin 18.5#
previous eagles that i have had (covered) 17.5 # w/ D&B 3.7 twin
glassed and painted w/D&B 3.7 twin 21.0 #
The glassed version was a lot heavier and did not fly as well as the covered versions
Glassing takes talent and time and adds wieght , someone who is more proficient at glass work should be able to shave some wieght
Hope this helps those who are interested .

Thanks for the info. I am having trouble finding a reliable scale. Obviously don't want to spend much on it as it will only get used a few times. Any suggestions? I have tried the spring fish scales only to discover they are way off.

I have been using an inexpensive postal scale that is good up to 50 lbs.
just stand the plane on end resting wieght of plane on the spinner ,centered on the scale platform.
This is usually fairly easy , however the bigger your plane is ..... you may need someone to steady the plane while you read the scale.

If you want to check the reliability of your scale fill a gallon container with water, 1 gallon weighs 8.33 lbs. You can weigh multiple gallons to calibrate your scale.

first and second flight went extremely well. had a little trouble with my onboard glow driver but once i got that fixed it was a wonderful day of fly'in. i was amazed when i took off expecting to have to give a lot of trim but all i needed was two clicks of down and then i was hands off. with the st 3000 it flight really scale with nice run off tack offs and powered landings. i was suprised at how slow the plane lands and how nice it will hammer head and slow barrel roll. the plane was a delight to fly and i'm now considering buy'in the sister plane (the pitts) . only i'll want some more power for that one. great planes has done it again with a awsome airplane. good luck to all that hasn't flown theres yet.........david
