Default RE: Chip Hyde's Cap-X - Building & Flying

Run 4-40 threaded rod through the carbon fiber rod, place 4-40 nuts on each end and tighten down snug so that a small amount of pressure is on the rod. This makes one strong rod, no way it will bend or break unless you run over it with a truck. The titanium end pieces? they make a special CA, its black, to bond metals to carbon fiber. and once you place it it is there for life. No going back.
I've never used JB Weld on a carbon fiber/metal rod, and don't know anyone that has. JB Weld has great tinsel strength but sets up brittle. In a pull force situation, I'm not sure that would be a good idea, and I don't think it will bond with Carbon Fiber unless you rough it up and clean it real good. maybe someone else out there has used it or has better knowledge on this application. I would be interested in other responses.
