Default RE: Chip Hyde's Cap-X - Building & Flying

I agree with Jbrannon. Why bother with the expense of carbon fiber if you are just gonna weigh it down with steel inside. JB weld is strong enough for just about anything and that is what is recommended for use with the setup.

As to servo's I have a full set (5) 5975's that are just screaming for a home and I think this is it. They are wicked fast and on 6 volts put out more then enough power. My usual Sig tail wheel setup and a set of good wheels for the front & I guess she should be right.

I asked Chip about the gas engine thing and he says that my 4.2 lb. Roto 35 should work out just fine with this plane by putting the batteries back in the aft end of the radio compartment so I think I have found a home for that engine as well. This is starting to look like an affordable project.

Goin Vert, if the stickers are that tough I will probably just leave 'em on. I spoke with the lady at planes plus and she says that the covering material is designed to take the temp. changes without wrinkling, I hope she is right. She also says that they have ordered the stuff for sale seperately, "just in case". Not sure if there are plans to retail it or not.

I was torn, since no one was talking about having one yet I was about ready to cancel my order and go with the Dave Patrick Edge. Didn't really need either one of them but I keep looking for that perfect 1/4 scale plane. Hope this one turns out to be it!
