Default RE: How Do CF Pipes Hold Up?

Steve,

I am using the Mintor c.f. pipe on my 1.70 and it is doing just fine with about 3 months of flying on it. The thing about the c.f. pipes is that they really need an aluminum inlet to help disipate the heat off the header. We have tried several makes of pipes that are just c.f. on the inlet and every one of them(outside the Bolly, and heavy too) came apart or the resin burned up at the inlet. I am experimenting with a new pipe that uses a c.f. wound tape and aluminum inlet that will be marketed soon as our testing verifies what we are looking for in the performance and durability area. It weights 3.5 oz and will work with most 2c's in the 1.40-1.70 range.
