Default How Do CF Pipes Hold Up + What do you know about Greve?

I have only had experience with an aluminum tuned pipe on my OS1.40. I am getting ready to purchase a Mintor1.40 to go in a second older plane. they currently are out of the aluminum pipes and only have the CF version. Will these pipes hold up over time. Take accidental banging around etc. Or, are they very fragile and easy to crack/damage. thanks.

Ive used the Bolly pipes for quite awhile. They hold up well but arent as light as some of the other CF pipes.

Steve,

I am using the Mintor c.f. pipe on my 1.70 and it is doing just fine with about 3 months of flying on it. The thing about the c.f. pipes is that they really need an aluminum inlet to help disipate the heat off the header. We have tried several makes of pipes that are just c.f. on the inlet and every one of them(outside the Bolly, and heavy too) came apart or the resin burned up at the inlet. I am experimenting with a new pipe that uses a c.f. wound tape and aluminum inlet that will be marketed soon as our testing verifies what we are looking for in the performance and durability area. It weights 3.5 oz and will work with most 2c's in the 1.40-1.70 range.

Wayne, you confused me just a little. Does the Mintor CF pipe have the aluminum end you are discussing?

Also, as I modified the title, does anyone have a comments on the performance of the Greve aluminum pipe compared to others on the market.

Wayne,

Your pipe sounds interesting. Is it going to be a pipe or a muffler type pipe ie: Bolly?

I was using a Greve pipe with the webra 145 on my focus. It worked great, but I dont think it was as quiet as other pipes I have heard.

Steve,

Yes, I meant the inlet on the Mintor pipe is aluminum. this pipe wieghts 4oz.

Mike,

This proto-type pipe is a piped muffler. The baffles are set to reflect much like a tuned pipe and weights 3.5 oz. It will be marketed by AeroSlave.com when testing is complete. Right now I have it on an O.S. 1.40 and it is responding well both top end and midrange. Just need to put some time on it for the durability factor.

Wayne
