RE: 10 Ft Span Arf Vmar Beaver
Ok have 2 VMAR apache ll hauled around by irvine 40 diesels and a apache lll mag 52 4 strk
and a hotrod irvine 53 davis diesel head plus the arrow these are built and flying the RV4, dornier and 7 ft beaver still in the box quality wise no real complaints
1, before gluing wing halves brushed epoxy around inside areas of each half
2 Fus. formers got a quick brush with epoxy at glue joints and a couple got cross braces
3 The hardware got replaced with sullivan clevises yes they make 2 mm almost all arfs
use sucky plastic stuff even kyoso and replace the wheels )i need bigger ones for flying
off grass. by the way my hot rod is converted to a tail dragger the ailerons cut 2 wing servos
and flaps installed
4 There has been lots of posts on putting arfs together most say check and reglue joints
and chuck the hardware replacing it all with stuff you trust less than$5
5 The only exception to my arf redue is pacific areomodel tiger moth all nice (ALL METAL ACCESS)
seemed like thousands of nuts bolts clevises etc also was also $200
The extra hour or 2 and $5 getting the vmars they way I like them makes them a great buy
My latest is a vmar cub 54" either 400 electric geared or 1/2 A glow I sliced off the really
bad wood beam mounts glued on a new firewall 1/8 ply to original radial plastic mount
OS10 davis diesel Dural gear added big wheels super flyer plane was$59 ok with new
dural gear and wheels an other$15 I just got a new cowl for this the first one was lost in
a bad ground loop only damage broken prop and cowl the "Tundra gear" works well on rough
fields on the OS 10 diesel 9x4 prop gets it off in a very short run
