I installed a Robart retractable tailwheel in my Jug (when I owned it!) and it worked great. Another servo was installed behind the others in the fuse to retract the tailwheel (via Dave Brown glass pushrod) and flex cable attached to the rudder servo for steering. It took me about 8 hours to figure it out the installation, get it installed and adjusted correctly.
The Jug still looks great on those low fly-bys with all of the gear sucked up! My friend that bought my P-47 lets me fly it whenever I want...he knows that I really didn't want to sell it, but I hate to see a grown may beg & cry...
