I've had 2 patty's. One with the cardboard tube, the 2nd with the fiberglass. IMO, I liked the cardboard tube model better than the fiberglass one I have now. Seems to me the cardboard tube model is better built and better covered than the fiberglass one. But that could be for a number of reasons also.

I did the wing tube with the old wood dowel with a piece of foam rubber (like the DuBro stuff used for wrapping your receivers and batteries in) and a piece of sand paper over that. Lot's of elbow grease and it finally fit the way I wanted it too. The power drill method is a lot faster and easier, just make sure you don't take off too much, too fast.
