Something no one has mentioned is that very often (Especially with fully charged batteries) having the Tx too close to the Rx will cause jitters.

Before you do anything drastic, turn everything on and walk a few feet away with the Tx and see if it stops.

PS, I seriously doubt that the nick in the antenna is causing any problems.
