BasinBum is a regulator really necessary when you use a 6 volt battery pack? I'm using Hitec digital servos with Futaba radio equipment and no regulator on the 6 volt battery. Have had this setup over a year now with no problems. Also other fliers at our field have the same setup, 6 volt battery no regulator with 35% planes and no problems.
If I may, you don't need a regulator with any 5 cell packs of NiCds or NmHds

Some years ago, JR servos would not tolerate 6 volts, but as for Hitec and Multiplex, and most other brands will have no problems with 6 volts.

Right after a complete charge, you will see close to 7 volts, but normally when take everything out of the charger and drive to the field, the batteries have stabalized to a lower voltage.

Also if you have your transmitter very close to the airplane at the start of the day, you might see some jitters, because the RF is getting swamped , pull away a bit.

Hope this helps.
